Neighbors were not informed of the new turning restrictions at 28th and Colorado until the project was ready to go out to bid. This is the case even though there was a lengthy planning process that included citizen input. The new turning restrictions severely inconvenience residents
of our neighborhood. The City suggests that we travel east on Arapahoe
and then south on Foothills, through 7 traffic signals, to get onto Highway
36 headed south toward Denver. Many of us now travel only a few hundred
yards and through only 1 traffic signal. The three maps below show routes
from the population locus at Sundown Lane and 28th St Frontage Rd to Highway
36. If you compare them it's obvoius which is the better route.
Current route to Hwy 36 (less than 1 minute)
Route to Foothills and Hwy 36 via 36 (3 to 4
minutes)
Route to Foothills and Hwy 36 via Foothills (7 to 9 minutes)
Well over 200 households are affected by the new
turning restrictions at 28th and Colorado. Although it seems small, this
is a neighborhood worth considering. It is really three neighborhoods:
1) Pennsylvania Avenue, 2) Gold Run condo owners and renters, and 3) Cordry
Court folks.
The neighborhoods: Cordry & north, Gold Run, and Pennsylvania Turning restrictions will have a negative environmental impact. Many vehicle trips will be in stop-and-go traffic instead of smooth-flowing, high-speed freeway traffic. |
