Hansel and Little Rapunzel
A Fractured Fairy Tale by Abigail Robbins
SCENE 1
SYNOPSIS: A pregnant woman and her husband are running away from a big, bad wolf. After they lose him in the forest, the couple stumbles across a chocolate house and decides to stop near it to catch their breath. Then, the pregnant woman gets a craving to eat a piece of one of the candy cane window shutters. As the husband steals it, a witch appears from inside and starts demanding payment for the candy cane (now sticky with fingerprints). The couple, being dirt poor, has no riches to give her. The witch tells the whimpering pair that when their child is born, she will come to take it as payment.
